The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Scope of Position:
- Work within the CET Erwin Manufacturing Complex to develop and support plant manufacturing systems while working with peers in Division and Corporate IT
- Test, provide development oversight, and implement solutions for the Erwin Plant Integrated Manufacturing Systems (IMS), GE Proficy MES, and Reporting
- Interact with customers to gather and define system requirements for small and large project efforts, effectively act on and/or communicate requirements to development resources
- Monitor quality of the output to ensure provided solutions meet required specifications to support business needs
- Trouble-shoot complex application or infrastructure problems that may have a significant impact on the business
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
- Interact with customers and partners to gather and define requirements from both a business and systems perspective by interpreting business needs and translating them to technical requirements and specifications
- Work with plant manufacturing operations and leadership to align IT systems and capabilities to meet business needs
- Serve as an IT technical and/or project receiver for the plant, ranging from smaller application upgrades to large MES rollouts
- Implement components for IT solutions in support of new business demands and maintenance of business
- Provide oversight of development work and monitor the quality of the output to ensure end product meets required specifications
- Accurately estimate time and materials costs plus all other elements of project leadership for IT and business projects.
- Govern or act as a gate keeper for the quality of Corning's IT systems
- Work with peers in Division IT and Global IT Operations to ensure applicable standards are followed when designing and implementing IT solutions for the plant
- Analyze and maintain plant IT systems for efficiency and reliability of the production critical systems, implement necessary improvements
- Troubleshoot complex applications and infrastructure problems that may have a significant impact on the business
- Maintain status of SME on specific areas of knowledge by researching and keeping current with new and anticipated technology within related areas of expertise.
- Train and assist with development of junior team members
- Maintain and develop applicable policies, processes, and procedures together with the IT Site Manager
Travel Requirements:
Minimal to no travel required
Hours of Work:
M-F 8AM - 5PM, On Call for afterhours support

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
